I grew up in the Midwest in a big extended family. I moved to CO after 2 years at a small Liberal Arts college, where I decided I wanted to study science. At Colorado State University I was able to continue my keen interest in plants, with my Botany/Plant Pathology degree. After working in this field, I discovered teaching and found it satisfying to work with students at the secondary education level; eventually claiming my Nursing degree and working in my second career.
I’ve been teaching nursing since 2021. I came to CNCC in July 2024 from the Denver College of Nursing where I taught Mental Health Simulation and Didactic in the BSN Program. I began teaching after obtaining my master’s in nursing education, at Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver. I am pleased to be in a career that combines Nursing Science and Education; both dynamic areas that emphasize caring and curiosity.
When I am not working, I like to be outside with my husband and dog and friends. I have 2 adult children with 4 grandchildren in Denver, 2 extended sons and 2 other grandchildren in the Boston area. I moved back to the Yampa Valley in the Spring of 2024 where my children grew up and I feel very at home here. I keep in touch with family on trips and I am daily energized with cycling, hiking, skiing, cooking, playing the piano, knitting or reading.
