Aviation Maintenance Technology (AAS & CERT)

The AMT program prepares students to become aircraft mechanics through a blend of hands-on projects and traditional academics.

  • Students choose whether to complete the Occupational Certificate or the Associate of Applied Science Degree.
  • Training includes a blend of hands-on projects and traditional classroom lessons.
  • Students complete the program in 21 months.
  • Students will be certified to work on any air frame and power plant in the U.S.

The Colorado Northwestern Aviation Maintenance Technology Program provides a twenty-one month, Federal Aviation Administration certified (FAR Part 147) training program for aircraft mechanics. Students receive hands-on training in three areas: general maintenance procedures, air frame maintenance, and power plant maintenance. General maintenance procedures are the background skills that all mechanics need. Air frame maintenance provides skills to repair and maintain the aircraft systems and structures. Power plant maintenance covers the repair and maintenance of piston engines, turbine engines, and propellers. During the course of the program, students will disassemble a working aircraft engine to its basic parts and reassemble the engine to exacting specifications...then run it. Graduates from the CNCC Aviation Maintenance Program have launched successful careers in commercial, private and corporate aviation concerns.
