How do I sign-up for an Adult Basic Education (GED, ESL, Reading, Basic Math) class?

How do I pay for my Adult Basic Education classes?

The Colorado Department of Higher Education generously supports Adult Basic Education making it low-cost or free to most of our students. Additional financial assistance may be available through the Colorado Workforce Centers and local tax dollars.

After registering for the class, you will receive a bill that you may pay in person during open hours at the bookstore Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or, by mailing a check to: Colorado Northwestern Community College, 500 Kennedy Drive, Rangely, CO 81648 or by calling 1-800-562-1105 ext 3278.

 

I never logged in to my class, I dropped after the first class, do I still have to pay for it?

Yes. You are responsible for payment, whether or not you participate.

When does my class start?

If you are enrolled in a self-paced learning plan you start and stop date will be determined in your plan. 

If you are enrolled in one of our Craig GED prep programs or English as a Second Language (ESL) program classes generally start within a week or two of the college’s academic year in September and January each year.

How do I get help?

Students currently enrolled in any of the Adult Basic Education programs may drop-by the Gateway Centers in Rangely and Craig, Monday to Saturday.

Will the college find me a job?

While career training and personal development are proven ways to increase your chances for better employment, the college does not guarantee job placement.

Who can take the GED test?

Students must be 17 years old to take the GED test.

 

When is the GED test offered?

GED testing is held once a month, usually on the second Friday, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm each August to May in the Pearson View Testing lab in the Gateway Center at CNCC’s Craig campus.

 

How much does taking the GED cost?

The complete four-part test is $150. If you need to re-test you only need to pay for the sections you take. You will need to pay for the test at the time you register.

 

How do I register for the test?

There are two ways to register: Log on to myGED.com or call (877) 392-6433. When you register, you will be given a confirmation of the date, time, and place. Be sure to bring a government-issued photo i.d. that includes your birth date (a valid driver’s license is ideal).

 

Where is the test given?

The GED test is administered fully online, but you need to come to our testing center at CNCC, in Craig at 2801 W. 9th St. Testing may also be available in Rangely and Meeker by special arrangement. How do I prepare for the GED test?

Students are encouraged to take the Pre-GED Assessment offered through the Adult Basic Education at CNCC prior to taking the actual GED exam. If you are not ready to take the exam, CNCC offers courses designed to help you prepare for the test. Learn more here: GED Information.
